Alexander von Pechmann, born in 1950, grew up in Munich and the Isar valley. He studied Philosophy, Law, Political Science, and Sociology and has been a Professor of Philosophy at LMU Munich since 2016. Since 1981, he has been co-editor of the magazine Widerspruch - Münchner Zeitschrift für Philosophie, and was for many years a lecturer and speaker on philosophy and political education at adult education centers. He is a member of the Gewerkschaft Erziehung und Wissenschaft (GEW) trade union.
His specialisms in teaching and research are in political philosophy and economics, epistemology, and inter-cultural philosophy.
